Don't know how I have survived

I kept hearing "it will get easier" oh no it doesn't at least not for me. I lost my husband on October 27, 2005 and to this day I have so many unanswered questions. He makes his presence known very clearly and while he sends us many blessings I just wish heaven would have a phone.See More

My Best Friend at Work killed himself last Saturday. I wrote this song as a tribute and Eulogy

His Name Was Trent, He was a Veteran of Afghanistan, a father, a husband, a brother, a worker among men and a great friend. For Trent:   I never used to miss the chance, to stop off by his houseWe'd have a beer and try to figure out, what this world was all aboutHe'd take me back with him to Afghanistan. other places that he'd been.I would tell about my life and times, we soon became good friends His world had gone from Night patrols, to mowing his back yard.He never could adjust to peace,…See More

I'm a survivor since December 23rd, 2009...the day that time stood still.

I've looked at many sites but have never posted or joined until today. I have this "feeling" that keeps rising from within to DO something, so I'm here now to help break the taboo regarding suicide. I'm here to help with the healing process by sharing stories and I'm here because I care about others who are going through the same thing. As survivors we share a special bond and I cry when I read other peoples stories, I feel the pain and I know it runs deep with many emotions. All the anger,…See More

"Driving By Braille"

Hey everyone, Angelique here. Wanted to let you know about an upcoming film festival that benefits the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). "Driving By Braille" deals with one girl's family history with mental illness and the stigmas behind it. In its emotional entirety, the film has a message of hope. All proceeds, whether ticket purchase or other donations supporting the cause, go…See More

Welcome!

So, basically I created this site on a whim. I am a member of 20something bloggers and saw in very fine print that I could create a social network of my own. The first thing I thought of was "survivors of suicide." I lost my dad when I was 16 to suicide and it has changed my life in so many ways. I am on 3 committees for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), the Los Angeles chapter, including the upcoming walk this October in Santa Monica, CA.

what I want..

I want everyone who comes to this site to feel welcome, safe, and not alone. "Every 16 minutes someone in the U.S. dies by suicide. Every 17 minutes someone is left to make sense of it." Here, we can share our stories or pictures, meet people with similar stories, and begin the long journey to healing.

So welcome, even though I know it's sort of like a "club" no one ever wants to be apart of. Just know that here you will always find a virtual hug and a smile...

~Angelique
